The Best Movies Featuring Archery

Is there anything better than an action-packed movie full of armies, battles, struggle, and romance? Here at Archer’s Arena, we love action movies as much as anyone - especially when there is an archer involved. Watching a skilled person wielding a bow and arrow is always a crowd pleaser. These are the best movies with archers that we’ve seen. The frequency of them has increased tremendously in the past decade, showing just how popular they are becoming in pop culture.

Robin Hood: Prince of thieves

It might be a little sappy at times and the soundtrack might be full of cheesy love songs, but it is hard to deny that this Kevin Costner classic is one of the best in the genre. The fight scenes and the struggle between the people and their evil lord only make it better. And did we mention the awesome archery? Robin Hood and his merry men aren’t too shabby with a bow, and there are quite a few dead-eye shots. We could learn a thing or two from them.

The Avengers

Of all of the great superhero movies that have come out in the 21st century, none are as action-packed and awesome as The Avengers. The ensemble cast, the awesome graphics, the epic fight scenes, and amazing stunts make this one a must-see. Our favourite character is of course Hawkeye. This agent of S.H.I.E.L.D is a master archer whose aim is as deadly as his wit. Jeremy Renner said he underwent intense archery training in preparation for the film. The coolest thing about him is that he is just a regular guy with incredible skills. We can really appreciate his hard work when it comes to training with a bow.

The Hunger Games Series

Set in a dystopian future, the Hunger Games is a movie series based on the books of the same name. With a dozen poor districts surrounding a lavishly wealthy capital, the downtrodden eventually rebel and are led by a young sharpshooter known as Katniss Everdeen. She survived the annual battle to the death known as the “hunger games” and sports a bow and arrow. The character of Katniss has significantly raised awareness about archery in current popular culture, especially among teens and young adults.

The sport of archery is one of the oldest still in existence, and is a favourite of action films worldwide. It has been growing greatly in popularity in the past decades, partly due to how fun it is and partly due to it being portrayed in popular films. These are some of the best movies with archery in them. If you’re inspired by these characters, then come down to Archers Arena and hone your skills!
