Top 6 Reasons Archers Arena is a Perfect Corporate (and Other) Holiday Event

With the holidays showing up around the corner, businesses generally have an outing with their staff to consolidate workplace relationships. There are always multiple options as to where to go, and what offers the best kind of experience. Here is a comprehensive list of reasons why you should consider Archers Arena as a top contender in your choices.

1. Great Team Building

Combat archery is a great option for team building simply because you have to work as a team to win a game. Very straightforward, but some of our game modes demand a high level of cooperation that necessitates communication and teamwork. On the flip side, it also allows coworkers to hash out their inside grudges, or to get even with someone by shooting them while still allowing them to walk away uninjured. It really becomes a win-win scenario!

2. Good Exercise

Believe it or not, combat archery remains a very good workout for those who actually give it a try. There’s something about shedding sweat together that just consolidates relationships between people. Perhaps it’s the rush of adrenaline and dopamine which always accompanies a session, or the constant smiles that show up on every face after a great play, but something tangible is created when people play, and it tends to stick around.

3. Affordable and Accommodating

We offer package deals to make sure you can get the best of your experience here with us, which can include the use of our private party room after your session to relax, unwind and restore yourselves. We also have an ongoing deal with Dominoes pizza, which can be delivered warm and delicious right at the end of your time in the arena to satisfy any craving intensive gameplay can create.

4. Awesome Staff

Our staff have always been the center-point of reasons why customers keep coming back to us. We are professional, friendly, and (most importantly) fun. We know how to customize the experience to the different groups’ wants and needs, all to make sure that everyone walks away feeling like they have been part of something special. We love what we do, and we genuinely enjoy sharing our passion for the sport.

5. Fun for Everyone

From athletes to not-so-athletic people, we have received all kinds of personalities here, and have found that the most important factors is to be willing to give it what you have, whatever that might be. Everybody goes through the same training; sure some will get it quickly, others get to have a more personalized training to make sure that everybody is on the same level when they walk onto the courts, and those accommodate different types of players as well, from more aggressive to more casual, there is a place for everyone here.

6. New Sport to Discover

Combat archery is a relatively new sport on the Toronto market, our location having just celebrated its first birthday during the summer. A lot of people have not yet had the chance to experience the awesomeness that is shooting each other with non-lethal arrows. It is indeed a hybrid mix of different sports, including but not limited to paintball and dodgeball. Most people who enjoy intense sports end up loving combat archery and keep coming back for more.

For these reasons and many more, Archers Arena is the place to come to for a successful corporate outing. However, as intense as we can be, safety always comes first. We always provide clean and effective equipment to ensure safety and comfort, and teach you to be the best archer you can be for a first try in an atmosphere that will make you want to come back for more.

4 More Great Reasons to Choose Archers Arena!

One article just wasn’t enough to cover all of the reasons why Archers Arena is the archery facility to come visit, so here are just a few more of our assets that guarantees fun, quality time for all.

Game modes

We have over 35 different game types that we can run; obviously not all of them in one session. Most are on display in our lounge, allowing for bookings to choose what specific games they would like to play. Our coaches are also great at combining different game types to get even more fun out of each session, ensuring a different experience every time you come play at Archers Arena. Have favourites? You can tell your coach about it and they will definitely incorporate that mode in the session, perhaps spicing it up with upgrades to get a whole new level to the game.

Field Tips

One of our newest exciting features, field tip arrows can be shot in a controlled, secure environment. These arrows have little metal tips instead of our big, marshmallow-style foam tips, and offer a much more accurate feeling of what standard archery is all about. It is a completely different shot, and we also offer the chance to print out a picture for you to aim at on our field-tip specific bags. We even have some of those arrows hollowed so they whistle when you shoot them. Yes, it’s really cool, and very satisfying when you nail your target.

Badass Photo Opportunities

Our coaches are trained to take great quality pictures of you when you come in, whether it is while playing combat archery, or during private lessons. We can assure that you will have profile picture worthy shots before you walk out of here. We are also very proud of our Throne of Foam, our homage to the Game of Thrones popularity, which is ideal for group pictures and just looking like you’re a boss. Therefore you know you will be walking out with solid new options for your Facebook, LinkedIn, and even Tinder shots!

5 Star Rating

More than anything else, we cannot thank our customers enough for leaving reviews after their visits. They really do speak for themselves. Many of our bookings choose to reserve a time with us because they’ve heard of our quality from one of their friends or relatives who’ve enjoyed their experience here. An even greater sign of quality on our part, is the sheer number of returning costumers that we get. It’s always awesome to have someone come in that you can put a name to, and effectively discuss more than just archery with. We create a whole ambiance of kinship here, and attract like-minded people.

In the end, it is fair to say that we are more than just another archery facility. We encourage and help build-up people who need to see friendly faces every once in a while. This is a place where anyone can belong, a home away from home, in addition to being a great way to stay in shape and meet great people with incredible stories. We enjoy investing time in the people that invest time in us, so much so that working here doesn’t even feel like a job, but more like being part of an awesome community.

Couples shooting each other in the face at the Sex Show

Archers Arena at The Everything to do with Sex Show (Sexpo)

Last weekend was the Everything to Do With Sex Show, and Archers Arena managed to snag a booth in there. You may be asking yourselves: what does archery tag have to do with sex? Turns out combat archery is a great form of couple therapy, for an even lower price than an actual therapist. What better way to vent out your frustrations than by shooting at each other! And what makes the experience even better? The foam tips at the end of our arrows guarantee that a direct hit will bring huge amounts of satisfaction, all while being completely safe so you can keep your S.O. for a little while longer. Even allows to keep shooting them over and over again if you have to!

On the other hand, if everything is perfect between the two of you and you’re looking for a way to prove your love even more, this would be the perfect time to be able to show that you are willing to take a bullet for them, metaphorically speaking. When you’re playing the game, and you see someone is lining up a shot toward them, there is nothing more romantic than throwing yourself in front of the shot, saving their lives for a moment longer, just to prove that you love them that much. Who wouldn’t go awww at such a display of affection?

Furthermore, after just a taste of how releasing combat archery is, it can also become a great way to work out together without having to involve a gym or lifting heavy weights. It also becomes a fun activity to do together, something that isn’t your typical date night, which definitely adds some spice to the whole relationship. So if you don’t want to be one of those boring couples that do what every other boring couple does, then definitely find time to include Archers Arena into your schedule.

Halloween!

As is tradition, once a year, every year, it is socially acceptable to get out our inner child and dress up as anyone we like for a day. We asked ourselves, why should we limit this freedom to one day only? Short answer: we really shouldn’t!

For a whole week, we at Archers Arena encourage you to dress up and come play! From the 24th till the day of Halloween itself, if you come shoot arrows with us all dressed up, we will let you play for free! If your crew comes in dressed up, we will have a small prize for best costume; points awarded for creativity, aesthetics, and archery friendly capabilities.

In the spirit of the festivities, all of our coaches are going to be dressed up for the week, so if your friends feel they are “too cool” for costumes, you can rest assured the rest of us know the importance of letting loose and having fun once and a while. Life is just too short to afford being able to say no to having fun; we’re all in this together. All for one and one for all!

Triumphant Tournament!

October the 16th was the day our combat archery tournaments were reintroduced to our fans; and what a day it was! The atmosphere was packed with exhilaration, comradery, and outright thrill. It was an intense energy to walk into, and it did exactly what it was supposed to: pump people up at the prospect of getting to shoot arrows at each other. Competitively.

Top news from the results of this tournament would be that our former champions, Bloodbath and Beyond, have effectively been dethroned! Our new top dogs to beat are the newly assembled team Wetshots, who had the chance to go up against our team of coaches. Suffice it to say that the coaches keep their streak alive of being undefeated! Perhaps one day there will be a team with the skill to uproot us, but that day is most likely still a ways away.

In other news, starting forth at Archers Arena there will be coach nights every Tuesday, which means that anyone can come in at 7 o’clock and stay after hours to play with/against coaches and members in a string of games that include a bunch of favourites as well as sometimes beta testing for new, up and coming game modes; all of that for only 20$.

Anyone who wishes to better themselves and have fun with some of our top members can come, and bring along their friends if they feel like challenging specific people, or teams! After all, there is no better way to grow than in the face of adversity, and this not only applies itself to combat archery, but in every aspect of life. We’re just here to help you along the way!

Why Archers Arena?

Why Choose Archers Arena?

With more and more archery facilities opening up their doors in the GTA, people will start to wonder where they will have the best experience. Although we do believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, here are a list of reasons why we think Archers Arena should be at the top of your list.

Coaches

There is no better way to make sure that you will be getting an awesome archery experience than by having coaches there that not only love what they do, but also enjoy teaching and sharing their knowledge of the art that is the efficient handling of a bow and arrow. From private lessons to team learning, our coaches are more than experienced enough to handle large groups and make sure each individual is capable of hitting targets by the end of the session. We pride ourselves in our know-how, and nothing makes us happier than knowing that we have successfully taught people, and helped them become better archers along the way.

Facility

From our awesome, chill-out zone lobby to our comfy party room, we at Archers Arena know how to greet guests and keep them entertained while they’re waiting for the late comers of their group. Our range offers a variety of targets, from hanging ducks, to our human cut-out form (affectionately named Will). We also have two courts which offer two completely different challenges in their arrangements, along with sniper towers in-between and an array of bunkers varying in shapes and sizes.

Champions Arena

Our new baby, Champions Arena allows for full-out, yet completely safe, medieval combat the likes of which has never been seen in an archery facility. You get to choose from 6 completely different classes to fight each other, each with exclusive perks that can give your team an edge. From hack and slash to Tower Defense, different game types allow for different strategies, and teamwork is a must if you want to come out victorious! Jedi Master also guarantees a unique, killer workout, just as fun as defeating hordes of foes with a lightsaber sounds like it would be.

Tournaments

For our more competitive athletes, we hold regular tournaments where the best come toe-to-toe and compete for the chance to face our undefeated coach team! Every tournament has seen its fair share of excitement, with underdogs overcoming previous champs, and the emergence of new talent to come learn from the established forerunners. A great opportunity to come witness the sport of combat archery at a higher level, and learn from some of the best.

What really sets us apart if the feeling of belonging that we bestow over all that wish for it. We are a welcoming, friendly facility who tends to attract warm, cheerful individuals, and our fast-growing group of regulars (or members) easily link up and build friendships from a common interest. We are always growing, and love to have people come in who can help keep us growing and better ourselves, because at the end of the day, we really are here for the love of the sport, and that is all we want to share with everyone that comes through our doors.

Archery at The Great Camp Adventure Walk

We all know that kids have the BEST imaginations ever, and we have all been victims of the guilty pleasure of picturing ourselves with the skills of icons such as Legolas, Katniss Everdeen, or even Hawkeye. Kids are carefree, truthful and genuine, whereas growing up, we become much too serious about everything and lose that spark of simple happiness. However, some kids get dealt a harder hand in life, and are subject to different illnesses that can make the simple act of living that much harder. In those cases, it can become a struggle to find a reason to be as happy or carefree. But there are ways to facilitate that. What better way to make a kid smile than to make them feel like a super hero?

Every kid needs a hero. Especially kids that are fighting their own war with sickness. On Saturday September 24th, Archers Arena had a station set up at the walk for Sick Kids, where kids and adults of all ages could come and learn how to shoot a bow. We were able to give some of them the opportunity to be their own hero, to feel like they too are as badass as the people in the movies. Even kids as young as 4 years old got to experience what it was like to let an arrow fly and hit a target, albeit with a little assistance from our coaching staff. But there was no feeling more satisfying than seeing the huge teeth-baring grins of the youths, except maybe when one of them would let out a little giggle of unfiltered exhilaration. To know that we were able to bring so many people all that happiness with the simple act of shooting arrows at targets is indeed very humbling.

With that being said, archery is also found to be a very therapeutic practice. The key for best results when firing your arrows is to be relaxed. You want to make the bow a simple extension of your arm, and when you draw, it should be a familiar, easy motion. There’s a whole flow to the art that is archery, and the better you get, the less you actually think about what you’re doing, allowing for peace of mind to settle in. Of course, this all comes with practice and know how. Luckily for you, we have an array of coaches that are experienced and can guide you through the process, happy to teach and share the knowledge we have for the craft. You will not find at Archers Arena an employee who does not love what they do, and it really gives the whole experience a step above that of our competitors, as our online reviews state for themselves.

Have a Fun First Date at Archers Arena

At their best, first dates are an exciting and fun way to get to know someone. At their most awkward, first dates can be downright painful to endure, but always provide a good story in the end. If you’re looking for an engaging activity for an upcoming date, archery might be just the thing. Here are some reasons why archery is a great first date activity.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

A dinner and a movie is a fine date, but after a while it can get boring. It’s hard to show someone your true personality on a first date if you’re just going through the motions.  A boring first date is unlikely to lead to a second one, so if you really want to impress that special someone, consider doing something fun and unusual like archery. Trying something new on a first encounter will let you open up to your date in new and unexpected ways.  Step out of your comfort zone with a date you’ll never forget at Archers Arena.

Avoid Any Awkwardness

One of the hardest things to do on a first date is to keep the conversation flowing naturally. Nothing kills the mood like a long, awkward pause in the middle of a conversation. Having an activity for your date is a great way to avoid running into any dead ends. Archery requires good communication and team work, so you and your date will have lots of opportunities to learn more about each other as you play. Don’t let the chemistry between you fade—book your next date at Archers Arena and keep the spark alive.

Finding creative plans for a first date can be challenging. Going out to dinner can be boring or intimidating, and it’s difficult to get to know someone in a silent movie theatre.  Archery is the perfect activity for a first date. It’s a fun and exciting adventure that will help to encourage a romantic connection. If you’re not sure where to go for your next big date, contact us at Archers Arena for an exciting and unforgettable time.

Celebrate with Bows and Arrows!

Celebrate with Bows and Arrows!

No one can throw a party quite like Archers Arena.  If you have reasons to celebrate (or a friend with a reason to celebrate!) schedule a private party with us any time you like.

Whether you have a birthday to ring in, a bachelorette or bachelor to cut loose with before they tie the knot, if you have a friend you want to surprise, or any occasion to celebrate, Archers Arena is the clear choice.   Here are some reasons to consider Archers Arena for your next celebration or private party.

Appropriate for All Ages

Bowling and laser tag don’t really cut it in this day and age.  Paintball can often end in tears and make a mess.  Kids of all ages (and adults with impeccable taste) can get really get into a kind of warfare that is popular in film in television, like The Hunger Games, The Avengers, Lord of the Rings, and The Green Arrow.  We can host kids as young as 8 at Archers Arena. We can provide 15lbs bows and hockey helmets that can easily stop foam arrows.

Archery is everywhere! No matter who you are you can appreciate the fun, tactics, and skill that come with using a bow and arrow.

Highly Accessible

You don’t have to be a pro to look like a badass (or to play like one!). At Archers Arena, everyone gets a 22-29 pound bow for a casual game.  This eliminates a lot of issues with equipment discrepancies, so you won’t get the issue with paintball where some guns brought from home are modified to the point where it is unfair for the other players. Everyone can play within the same field of power. Someone that is 6'4 will shoot just as hard as someone that is 5'2.  In fact, due to having a lower centre of gravity and being a smaller target, a shorter archer can have a big advantage on their opponents!

For your next party, come to Archers Arena. Contact us today for more information about scheduling, catering, and other services we can provide.

Release Some Stress with Archers Arena

After a long day at work, you can build up a surprising amount of stress just from daily requirements and quotas.  It can be from dealing with certain people, certain situations, or just from perpetually working under a deadline.

Everyone needs to unwind from their daily grind, but the question is how? Going home and plopping yourself down in front of Netflix is one way that might work – but it is not exactly healthy for you, mentally or physically.  The gym might work too – but there is only so much satisfaction you can find running on a treadmill like a hamster on a wheel.  We recommend visiting Archers Arena when your stress buildup needs a constructive outlet! Here’s why:

Real Exercise

If all humans needed was basic cardio, we would all run on the spot for ten minutes and never evolve further from that.  Indoor Archery provides a form of exercise that is dynamic, gives you cardio by keeping your heart rate up, and helps tone muscles in your whole body depending on your playing style.  Are you a defensive player?  Strengthen your legs and core by taking cover and shooting only when the time is right.  Are you an offensive player? Give your glutes as well as your whole body a workout by running from cover to cover to get the edge on your opponent.  Not to mention that no matter your playing style, archery can give you the strongest, most well-toned arms you can imagine.

Brain Work

Archery is all about tactics.  Free your brain from obsessing or stressing about the work of the day and focus on something more fun and maybe even more challenging: the archery match.   You never know when some of your archery skills can be applied to real life – and we’re not just talking about stumbling across a bow and arrow one day.  Archery can teach you to predict others’ behaviour, how to ration your energy, and increase the quality of your hand-eye co-ordination.

Come and visit Archers Arena whenever you need to blow off some steam from your busy day.

Reasons Why Archery is the Perfect Hobby

When you are looking for a hobby, there are usually a few common criteria that come to mind. You want something that can help you stay in shape, something that makes you feel happy and helps you de-stress, and something that you can share with others or work on alone.

Well, we may be biased, but we think that archery is one of the best pursuits you can find. Archery provides the perfect combination of physical and mental focus, and can introduce you to an amazingly supportive and welcoming community of fellow archers.

Here are some things archery can do to improve your life:

Archery Improves Your Physical Health

Archery is a physically demanding activity that will improve your overall health and also strengthen your arms, core, hands, chest and shoulders. You’ll find that your stamina and upper body strength will improve immensely.

Archery Improves Your Mental Health

In today’s distracting world, we can barely focus for 30 seconds. Try sitting down to read a book – you will probably not make it more than a paragraph or two before you feel the need to check your phone or social media accounts or email. Archery can provide a welcome and needed escape from these stressful distractions.

Archery can be a marvelous way to clear your head and discover inner focus. Like guided meditation, archery allows you to focus on a singular point or task. You will find that you have an increased sense of wellbeing, increased patience plus the ability to focus.

Supportive Community

When you take up archery, you are welcomed into a community of likeminded individuals. Beginners are welcomed, and a feeling of comradery and support is cultivated in Archer’s Arena. You’ll find that you make lasting friends here!

If you think archery could be your new favorite hobby, give us a call. We’re always happy to introduce beginners to the rich cultural history of archery!

Group Outings for Kids' Camps

Want to make some memories that will stay with your kids for a lifetime?  Want to help encourage teamwork and leadership skills?  There is no better team activity than Combat Archery!

The Benefits of Combat Archery Outings

Brain Power:

Combat archery encourages working well with a large group (in team games) or spatial awareness and tactical/critical thinking (in free-for-alls).  Watch your campers think in new and exciting ways when presented with real, physical challenges with their friends.

Equal Opportunities:

Every player uses a 22-29lbs bow for a casual game in our Arena – this means, unlike paintball for example, there will not be any enthusiasts who bring their own gear and unbalance the playing field.  Everyone will play within the same realm of power.  A camper that is tall will shoot just as hard as a younger or shorter camper.  In fact, the smaller archer will have an advantage being a smaller target!  Everyone on the field will be equipped with exactly the same type of bow and shoot the same padded arrows.  Even if one child is smaller than the others, it will not stop them from playing just as hard or having just as much fun as their friends.

Add Variety to the Camp Schedule:

Shake up the regular camp routine with a trip to Archer’s Arena!  Your camp will stand out from all the rest and you will leave your campers raving to their parents about what a great time they had.   Striking out and doing something different is a great way to provide an amazing, fun activity without needing to plan the activity/game yourself (leave that to us!)

Bringing your day camp campers out to Archer’s Arena for a day of combat archery will be one of the best decisions you ever make, for your campers, for your business, and for yourself!

This Birthday, Get Your Kid a Real Bow!

When it comes to having a safe, happy birthday for your child and his or her friends, aiming arrows at each other is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. But trust us, your kid is going to love this. We’re like paintball – if paintball was infinitely cooler, less painful, and stemmed from centuries of tradition. The impressive history of archery makes this game a noble pastime, and archery’s prevalence in contemporary pop culture means your kids have probably imagined what it would feel like to let an arrow fly into the broad yonder. (Who doesn’t want to be Katniss or Robin Hood?)

Reasons Why a Kids’ Archery Party is Pretty Much the Best.

Okay, I’ll admit it, we love our pastime. We’re not exactly a neutral party. But still, consider the following reasons …

One:

Your kid is going to be running around and shouting with his or her friends anyway. Why not pick an activity that works with your kid’s energy and passion for sport? We keep the kids safe (no actual harm can occur from these arrows) and moving with his or her friends for one-and-a-half hours. They’re going to love it, and you’re going to love that you can relax.

Two:

We’re cool. Archery is a time-honored pastime with an impressive history. Your kids are going to love the fact that they are using weapons that existed in previous centuries and imitating heroes that they admire. Archery is just way more grownup than bowling or paintball, and we know your kids will get as immersed in the game as we do.

Three:

Your child might find more than a great birthday memory here. As a parent, we know you are always searching for new ways to help your kids explore their potential. Archery just might be your kid’s latest passion. Our lessons can help keep your kid physically active and teach great hand-eye coordination. Archer’s Arena is also a place for your kid to find great role models. We encourage healthy competition and comradery; it’s what makes Archers Arena such a fun place to spend time.

Call us today, and find out how we can help you plan the birthday party of the year!

The History of Target Archery: from the Olympics to your Hometown

When thinking of archery, we tend to drift to movie heroes fighting for good with their bow and arrows or maybe ancient people on the hunt, but the most popular activity is actually target shooting. Target archery is the world’s most popular archery game, and this Olympic sport has hundreds of thousands of members across more than 140 countries! Now you can get a taste of why this game is so popular right here in Toronto at Archers Arena. In celebration of the addition of this game to our program, here is a little lesson about the sport, how it works, and why it is so awesome!

A brief history

Archery is one of the world’s oldest activities, and is by far one of the oldest sports still practiced today. When you pull back that string and let the arrow fly, just think that you are playing the same game that ancient people played thousands of years ago. Now that’s real staying power.

Ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and other noble kingdoms held tournaments full of prestige and honour, and even into the middle ages skill with a bow was held in high esteem. While battle and hunting were certainly the major uses of the bow and arrow, as the world began to settle down, shooting at targets became the game of choice. By the late 19th century, it became so widespread that an association was founded in nearly all major nations. At the turn of the century, it joined the Olympics, and by the 1930’s a set of international rules had been made.

Today it holds its place as one of the most prestigious events in the world, and with the explosion in popularity in recent years, people of all ages are beginning to get involved in the fun.

The rules

The rules may vary depending on whether you are indoors or outdoors, and since we use only safe, foam-tipped arrows, we don’t have quite the same precautions as those who use real arrows. Still, there are some things that you should know:

  • Standard indoor distance is 18-25 meters depending on difficulty
  • Standard indoor competition is played in “ends” of 3-6 arrows. After you shoot, you go to the board to score your round.
  • The standard rule is two minutes to shoot three arrows, but we might be lenient for beginners.
  • Archer’s score their own rounds. If an arrow is touching a boundary on the target, they are awarded the higher score.
  • You can’t touch the arrows during or before scoring!
  • You need to have fun and try to beat all of your friends.

Archers Arena Toronto

We have a wide selection of games to fit any and all personalities. If you want to play a fast paced game full of running, jumping, diving, and strategizing, then we’ve got something for you. However, if you enjoy something a little more focused that makes you really concentrate on hitting a target, then we’ve got that too.

We are Toronto’s premier destination for all things archery related. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with multiple arenas for playing and all of the targets and equipment you could possibly need.

If you want to get in on the game that is sweeping the world, there is no better place than Archers Arena. Target archery is fast becoming popular of people of all ages around the world, and especially here in Toronto. Come down to Archers Arena and give it a shot. We are sure that you’ll come back.

Target Archery at Archers Arena

We are proud to announce that Archers Arena is expanding the archery services that we offer in Toronto. In addition to combat archery, we are also offering target archery in 2016. Target archery is a competitive sport in which one or more players attempt to hit a defined target with a bow and arrow. Target archery is usually played in a team, although it can also be played singly, with the archer attempting to better hit their target. Target archery is a traditional sport that is popular all over the world – in fact it’s one of the competitions in the Olympic Games.

During a target archery session, a 5-color, 10-ring target is normally used which is placed at varying distances for greater levels of skill. Other stationary targets can be used as well. Targets can be placed between 10 and 80 yards away from the player. Different bows can also be used for variety.

Develop Your Skills

Not only is it a lot of fun, target archery is also great for improving hand-eye coordination. It teaches children how to play on a team and it encourages the development of patience and concentration – skills which are useful in all aspects of life. Target archery is great for people of all ages, enabling them to reduce stress and think more clearly as they concentrate on improving their performance.

Target archery is not all in the mind, however. This type of archery is also very physical. A great deal of strength and stability is needed to pull the arrow in the bow and unleash it toward the target. It develops the muscles of the arms, and is a very good overall form of exercise.

We are welcoming people of all skill levels to come down to Archers Arena in Toronto and try their hand at target archery. Beginners will gradually hone their archery skills with the aid of safety equipment and qualified instructors. Don’t forget, it’s a great way to improve your performance at combat archery as well!

Why Combat Archery is Great for Team Building

The explosion of digital technology has changed the way that businesses perceive value. Slowly they are realizing that people are the most important factor to success, and good team dynamics are the key to maximizing people’s potential.

A team that has fun together, builds friendships and trusts in one another is a powerful tool for businesses in any industry, and that’s caused an explosion in team building activities in recent years. Typical team building activities are often boring and seem cliché, so it makes building relationships difficult. Here is why combat archery is great for team building and why you should give it a try.

It involves intricate teamwork

Not only does combat archery involve teamwork, it involves intricate strategies and task delegation. Oftentimes, the most skilled or experienced player will delegate tasks or roles in the team, as well as give advice on the fly to give the team the best chance at succeeding. Not only does this mirror office culture, it stays in line with a lot of typical business values. Being able to come together to accomplish a goal is a huge advantage in the business world, and practicing while having a lot of fun is much better than watching a corporate video.

It establishes clear but difficult goals

There are many games like tug-o-war or capture the flag that involve teamwork and goals, but they oversimplify the game. Tugging a rope or running to a base is a lot easier than banding together as a team, aiming, and shooting a bow while on the run - especially when you have to follow detailed instructions. Our archery arena has a ton of different games, each with their own unique set of rules. The goal is established at the beginning and the team members need to figure out the best way to accomplish it based on their own skills and tools at hand. Sound familiar?

It’s engaging and fun

Unlike the basic teambuilding games that office workers are haphazardly thrown into and told to have fun doing, our game is interactive, fast-paced, thrilling, and fun. There is barely any time for rest and you have to be constantly thinking. You need to plan your next step, be aware of dangers and repercussions, consider the circumstances and communicate with each other to make the next best move. You won’t regret playing the game and you won’t dread having to get together with your colleagues over the weekend.

Having a strong bond with co-workers makes it easy to get things done around the office - it’s building that bond that is difficult. The typical team building exercises just don’t live up to combat archery. With its teamwork, task delegation, goal setting, and engagement, it is easy to see why combat archery is great for team building. So grab your colleagues and make your way down to Toronto’s Archers Arena for some fast-paced fun.

The Best Movies Featuring Archery

Is there anything better than an action-packed movie full of armies, battles, struggle, and romance? Here at Archer’s Arena, we love action movies as much as anyone - especially when there is an archer involved. Watching a skilled person wielding a bow and arrow is always a crowd pleaser. These are the best movies with archers that we’ve seen. The frequency of them has increased tremendously in the past decade, showing just how popular they are becoming in pop culture.

Robin Hood: Prince of thieves

It might be a little sappy at times and the soundtrack might be full of cheesy love songs, but it is hard to deny that this Kevin Costner classic is one of the best in the genre. The fight scenes and the struggle between the people and their evil lord only make it better. And did we mention the awesome archery? Robin Hood and his merry men aren’t too shabby with a bow, and there are quite a few dead-eye shots. We could learn a thing or two from them.

The Avengers

Of all of the great superhero movies that have come out in the 21st century, none are as action-packed and awesome as The Avengers. The ensemble cast, the awesome graphics, the epic fight scenes, and amazing stunts make this one a must-see. Our favourite character is of course Hawkeye. This agent of S.H.I.E.L.D is a master archer whose aim is as deadly as his wit. Jeremy Renner said he underwent intense archery training in preparation for the film. The coolest thing about him is that he is just a regular guy with incredible skills. We can really appreciate his hard work when it comes to training with a bow.

The Hunger Games Series

Set in a dystopian future, the Hunger Games is a movie series based on the books of the same name. With a dozen poor districts surrounding a lavishly wealthy capital, the downtrodden eventually rebel and are led by a young sharpshooter known as Katniss Everdeen. She survived the annual battle to the death known as the “hunger games” and sports a bow and arrow. The character of Katniss has significantly raised awareness about archery in current popular culture, especially among teens and young adults.

The sport of archery is one of the oldest still in existence, and is a favourite of action films worldwide. It has been growing greatly in popularity in the past decades, partly due to how fun it is and partly due to it being portrayed in popular films. These are some of the best movies with archery in them. If you’re inspired by these characters, then come down to Archers Arena and hone your skills!

Fun Things To Do In Toronto

As the economic and cultural heart of Canada, Toronto is a metropolitan hub for people from around the world. In fact, over half of its current residents were born outside of the country. With over 2.5 million people, and sitting in a greater metro area of millions more, Toronto has plenty of things to do for people of all walks of life. This town is a center for culture, dining, sport and fun for the millions of people in the surrounding area - fun things to do in Toronto are not in short supply. A few of the must-sees in the city are:

The CN Tower

The tallest free standing structure in North America, and formerly the tallest free standing structure on the planet, this tower quite literally dominates the cityscape. Standing taller than 500 meters, it is impossible to miss. A trip to this city just wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the top. There is a great exhibition, a nice revolving restaurant, and a glass floor for those brave enough to walk out onto the glass and peer down. The view is breathtaking, and you can even see as far as New York State on a clear day.

Take in a Leafs game

Hockey is the lifeblood of the nation, and Toronto fans can be rabid at times. Head on down to the Air Canada Centre and check out the city’s historic franchise, the Maple Leafs. The team is still good these days, but they were unstoppable in their heyday. Torontonians love the team, and you will be able to tell pretty quickly just how crazy people go for this game. If you like basketball, you can also check out a Toronto Raptors game at the same stadium!

The Distillery District

One of the greatest things about going to a new city is just taking the day to stroll around and check out all of the cool new things that you haven’t seen before. Toronto is great for this. The beaches, the shops, the skyscrapers, and restaurants all add to the ambiance of the city. No place is better than the Distillery District, though. Formerly a section of town for the distillation of alcohol, the area is now a pedestrian-only village dedicated to the arts. Check out some of the artsy cafes, and spend the day perusing the things on display.

Toronto is a massive multicultural city, so don’t consider this list exhaustive. It is just a few of the fun things to do in Toronto. We know that our archery game is one of the fastest growing things to do in the local area, but there are still plenty of other great things to do in this town. If you want to break a sweat, you know where to go!

The Biggest Franchises in Toronto Sports

The City of Toronto has a sports culture that is as diverse and culturally rich as the population that inhabits the city. Indoor combat archery is fast becoming one of the most popular sports in the area, but we can definitely recognize that we are not the first. Every major sport is well represented here, and part of the reason our game is getting so popular is because the culture of this city is so deeply intertwined with sports. Here are some of the storied franchises in Toronto sports history.

The Maple Leafs

Out of all of the sports that are represented here and all of the passion that fans have for all of them, there is still nothing that compares to hockey. The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the “original six” hockey teams that founded the NHL. Although they played at Maple Leaf Gardens for much of their history, they are now at the state-of-the-art Air Canada Centre. Founded in 1917 and still going strong, the team has 13 Stanley Cups sitting in its halls. Even though we haven’t won the cup in a long time, the Leafs are still the most valuable franchise in the NHL. The fans are as rabid as they are loud, so get to a game immediately.

The Blue Jays

As the only franchise in Major League Baseball that lies north of the border, the Jays are the pride and joy of Canadian baseball fans. Founded in the city in the 1977, the team was originally owned by the local beer giant Labatt’s. First playing at the world-famous SkyDome, now named Rogers Centre, the team has been very successful throughout its tenure. The fans pack the stadium regularly, and seeing as how it is the only Canadian baseball franchise, fans can be found across the nation. The team is going through a resurgence as of late, so people are starting to filter back in.

The Raptors

Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports up here in Canada, and with a class full of budding NBA stars from up north, people are starting to follow it more and more. The Raptors are a late comer in terms of sports up here, being founded in 1995, but they still have a huge following. There have been some stars here over the years, and more and more players have shown willingness to leave their comfort zones and venture abroad into our country. The team is getting better each year and the fans are responding. They have the benefit of being the only Canadian team, which means that we go crazy any time they play.

Sports are taken more seriously than just about anything up here. Hockey of course reigns supreme, but baseball, basketball, soccer, and many other great sports are all very popular. That could explain why our archery game is becoming such a big deal. Torontonians are naturally competitive and when they aren’t taking in a game from one of Toronto’s sports franchises, they are playing one against their friends.
